As Hrothgar loses the fight
Beowulf hears his plight
Whilst the monster peers in
Heorot Hall waits to meet its fate
Silently Beowulf waits
Seasons come and go
Grendel’s claw strikes cold
Beowulf’s hand takes good hold
Never letting go
Grendel pulls and wails
Desperate to be free
Then armless he turns and flees
Beowulf’s victory
Grendel runs hard in flight
Finds his lair in the endless night
Then he lays down and dies
